Salento, the southern tip of Puglia, has the best beaches in the region, a unique architectural style and a strong cultural identity. However, the media spotlight since RyanAir started to Bari and Brindisi has so far been focused on the 'trulli region' near Ostuni. Prices of trulli (conical shaped stone dwellings) and other property near there have rocketed since receiving this attention, while Salento has only just begun to be written about.
